Stuff

Well, we've had some interesting times lately. Two of our senior couples returned home after having served faithful missions. Those things happen. Unfortunately, only one of them has been replaced, thus far. Not enough senior couples -- and not enough senior couples willing to come to Mongolia!

But then we had two more senior couples whose missions ended rather unexpectedly, due to health issues. Now we are REALLY shorthanded! Any seniors out there who would like to serve?! We wouldn't mind twisting your arm a bit, if we need to! The work load is getting rather intense here, right now!

Again, we would encourage anyone who may read this, to prepare to serve as senior missionaries when the time comes. And it doesn't matter what your age is now, it is never too earlier to begin preparations. Set it is as a goal and start preparing right now. As you contemplate the possibility, you may by surprised at the number of things you can do even at an early age, to prepare for that kind of service.

And trust us. You are DESPERATELY needed just about anywhere in the world!

Part 2.

They turned the power off for a while a couple of days ago. So we only had the power back up that the Church building has, which is limited but certainly is helpful. But, when it came time for one of our English classes, the only light was in the hallway. So . . .

Then, we thought you might like to see Mongolia's version of a 'Jumbo Super Market'! Here, it is just a name they have seen somewhere. It doesn't seem to have any particular meaning.

That is a lot of people in your English class, WOW!! Especially in the hallway.
LOVE the 'SUPER MARKET'! Interesting to see a building over there title in English, is there a lot of that? Is that the store where you get your American products?

We get American products in "The American Store". Catchy, huh? They use a LOT of American titles over here. They really want to be just like the Americans. Only once you get inside, it is pure Mongolian! Except Snicker bars, everyone carries Snicker bars! That English class was small because of the power outage. We usually have twice that many!

Looks like a 7-11 or something!

Maybe I should start teaching my class out in the hall. Maybe they would listen better. hahaha

Take pride! You're sitting on the only ground in the universe unspoiled by a Walmart cluster!

Y'all are way too spoiled in the states! What we would give to have a Walmart nearby! You simply have no idea what it is like to try to get to eight different stores (most of them NOT near each other) in order to have any hope of finding the food you need (which we still didn't, by the way)! Some days the stores here have items that we would consider common, some days they don't. I'll never complain about Walmart again!

I feel awful about the Jacksons going home. Are you sure that they are not coming back. Elder Jackson broke his arm about 7 or 8 months ago and had to be taken to Hong Kong-He and his wonderful wife lived in my house (actually the andersen's) for over a month while he recuperated. How was he doing? Did something serious happen so that he had to go back to Utah?

Andrew,
Elder Jackson has skin cancer. They have told him he will not die from it, but he does have to have chemo, and he will be better off at home. Cancer of any kind generally means they will not return to their mission. We will REALLY miss him. Thanks for asking.
